There is no doubt that Wales have with France been the team of the northern hemisphere for 2011. They were phenomenal at the World Cup, only just falling short to France, and they are now dominating the Six Nations and could potentially do the Grand Slam. France drew with Ireland last weekend, and although they been winning, they have not been doing so very convincingly, so it seems pretty clear, at least at this moment in time that Wales are easily the favourites to win.
The other teams haven't really figured at all, with Ireland only showing glimpses of magic and Scotland and Italy being their usual selves, even though it's clear that the latter are improving massively. Mark my words, within the next 15 years, Italy will win the Six Nations. That I guarantee.
However back to the present. Wales have some incredible young and new talent in Alex Cuthbert and George North on the wings with Rhys Priestland at fly half, so not only are they a threat now, they will be a threat for years to come and will be genuine World Cup contenders next time in takes place in 2015. Their backs are huge, something which the media recently have been desperate to point out, with Leigh Halfpenny the odd one out at full back.
I think this really is Wales's time to shine, and they can establish themselves as the best side in the Northern Hemisphere, ahead of France who have held that title for so many years. Warren Gatland, their emblematic manager, also looks set to stay so we could be in for a great few years of Welsh rugby ahead. England and the other British Isles, be warned!
